As your partner in your child’s well-being, we’re here to help you get your little ones the high-quality dental care they need, when they need it.
We’ll work with you on checking for programs and dental financing options that will be most beneficial for your family. We’re happy to assist you in navigating the types of support available for essential dental care, including and most primarily the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).
The CDBS can pay for the full or partial cost of dental services that the program covers. If your child is eligible, he or she may receive as much as $1,000 that can be used for a range of maintenance and treatment procedures.
Read this quick and basic guide to know more about the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
Your child needs to meet the following criteria to be eligible:
There is no application or registration process. The Department of Human Services sends a notice via email or post to the eligible child and/or the parent/guardian. This is sent at the beginning of each year, with routine assessments conducted all year round to identify newly eligible beneficiaries.
If you have received such notification of eligibility, bring it to your next visit to our dental practice.
Yes. Before or during the appointment, you may ask our friendly dental staff to check the eligibility status of your child for you. We are able to obtain this information, including the remaining balance of your CDBS funds, through direct communication with Medicare.
CBDS covers basic dental services including:
- Dentist consultation
- Oral examination
- X-ray
- Professional cleaning
- Fissure sealing
- Tooth fillings
- Root canal treatment
- Tooth extractions
Know that there are specific limitations and restrictions on claiming basic dental services, as prescribed by the CDBS rules. Your dentist will be able to outline the limitations set for the specific services you will be getting.
Meanwhile, the CDBS will not cover cosmetic dental work, orthodontic procedures and hospital-based dental services.
Remember that the $1,000 is good only for two calendar years. If you were not able to use the full amount within the two-year period, the remaining funds cannot be carried forward or used anymore. Don’t worry, as our dental team can help you plan out your treatments and their costs for the period covered to help you maximize your benefits.
Book an appointment with us and simply advise your wish to use CDBS benefits.
When you come in for your visit, your dental team will develop a proposed treatment plan for your child with you. We’ll lay out the potential costs, how the billing will work, and inform you should there be any costs you need to shoulder out of pocket. We’ll also assist you on how you can claim your benefit, which can be either the dentist making the claim for you via bulk billing or through Medicare.
We know how the success of a dental treatment also relies on the patient’s — or in the case of children, their parents’ — readiness financially, psychologically and logistically (i.e., schedule at work/school). That is why we aim to ensure that our patients are well-informed and empowered, so they can play a proactive role in their dental health care.
A healthy, good-looking smile helps your child have a good start in life. And investing in their smile needs to start early, before serious conditions arise. With CDBS, you can avoid skipping treatments due to cost considerations, because the basic and important dental services will be paid for you. Make sure to make the most of this benefit and get your child the premium-quality dental care they deserve. Call our team today!
