At Dental Design, we understand that for many patients, dentistry can feel frightening and overwhelming.
We want you to know you’re not alone in feeling anxious, and what you feel is very real. For this reason, we provide options for sedation dentistry that will help you feel more relaxed and at ease during procedures, and our dentists are happy to discuss your options with you prior to starting any dental treatment.
Dental fear often keeps patients from getting much-needed care for their teeth. This neglect creates a downward spiral that causes embarrassment and even more fear about getting more complex procedures done. Dental sedation can help our patients feel comfortable and safe during dental procedures.
At Dental Design, we offer nitrous oxide, which can be used for most types of treatment and helps patients to relax. IV sedation is another option and can help you sleep through your entire procedure.
IV sedation is also a good option for patients who may want to complete multiple procedures during one appointment. This can save you time by eliminating the multiple appointments it often takes to complete a complex treatment plan.
Nitrous is a gas that you breathe in through a mask worn during your procedure. Nitrous does its work quickly to help you feel at ease, and it leaves your system soon after the mask is removed. Because it leaves your system so quickly, you’ll be able to drive yourself homefrom your appointment. You'll even be able to resume your normal activities!
Nitrous is a safe option for children who need sedation during dental care, and we’re happy to discuss your child’s needs with you.
During IV sedation, medication is delivered intravenously while your heart rate and vital signs are constantly monitored. Patients feel like they’re asleep during IV sedation, and typically have little to no memory of their procedure. This option is ideal for patients with severe anxiety or dental phobia, disabilities, special needs, gag reflexes, or time constraints in getting multiple procedures done.
Because it does take some time for the medication to wear off, you will need someone to drive you home after your appointment.
We never want fear or anxiety to keep our patients from getting the dental care they need, so if you have concerns about your dental treatment, we encourage you to contact Dental Design to learn more about how we can help you.
When planning your treatment needs, our dentists can discuss your options with you. We want you to feel empowered about your decisions for your dental care while also feeling comfortable in the dental chair.
